If your child has a summer birthday please choose a time and let me know when you want to celebrate.
This month the Character Skill focus is "How to Show Appreciation ".
HOW TO SHOW APPRECIATION
1. What did the other person do for me. Look at the person.
2. Look at the person
3. Say "thank you" in a pleasant voice.
4. Tell what you appreciate.

Ice Cream For Chapter Books Program
The students are doing a terrific job with the Chapter Book Program! We had 100% for January but did not do as well in February. We have two more that need to finish. Thank you for your support at home listening to your child read and helping to make creative projects to go with the book. The students have earned ice cream for both months! Lets keep it up for March and April! All students who read a chapter book and do a project to share in class (January-April) will make it to the huge ice cream party in May!
March Library Passports
The theme for this month is Non-Fiction. Please encourage and help your child to complete his/her passport early in the month. Students receive a HOT Ticket from me and a reward from Mrs. Hansen in the library.
READING FOR SUCCESS/HOMEWORK FOLDERS
Keep reading at home and recording your minutes in the Road to Success folders. Children need to read every night for 5 days or more. The folders are still due every day and I will still record the minutes read every Monday and turn them into Mrs. Hanson our Librarian.
If you are still getting books from me and you need the book more than one night please send it back to school and it will be returned. This will help me and the children keep track of where the books are. There will be no books or homework sent home on Fridays or vacation days. Because the goal is to read at least 20 minutes each day for at least 5 days each week, it will be necessary to read a book you already have at home over the weekends and vacations.
FRY WORDS AND PHRASES Your child should be bringing home a half sheet with words or phrases. Please have them practice saying them as fast as they can in one minute. This will will help with fluency. You can do this as part of their reading time.
General Information:
Lakeview Spirit Day Every Friday is Lakeview Spirit Day! Show your LION PRIDE! Wear your blue and green or new school shirt! Students will earn a HOT Ticket for wearing the school colors.
School Supplies for our class:
1. $20.00 Donation for the year. (This enables us to go on field trips and helps with class activities).
